Yes, there are good reasons why printers made for professional use will generally employ pigment inks.

I have a stack of ten-year-old dye prints made on Epson’s ColorLife paper that have seen much better days. At the time, that paper was considered the best way to go for longevity of prints made with Epson dyes.
