Summary of the advice given
  • You have a focusing issue. The camera has focused either on the flowers or on the boy to the left.

  • You can check which focus point the camera used by loading the original image into DPP (Digital Photo Professional software on the CD supplied with the camera) and selecting View/Focus Point.

  • If all focus points are enabled the camera will select the closest target under a focus point.

  • In full auto mode (green square) the camera selects All Focus Points automatically and you cannot change this.

  • Don't use full auto mode on the 7D . If you want to use auto expsoure select P instead.

  • Set the camera to use a single focus point - the centre one. Experiment from there.

  • Don't use Auto ISO with flash or the camera will choose too high an ISO. You can't select the ISO manually in full auto mode but you can in P mode. Try setting the ISO to 400 when using flash.

Enjoy your camera!
