An uncorrected and corrected version...

Indeed - and another oft-used method in the film days were tilt-shift lenses, allowing perspective correction for these types of shots by adjusting the angle of the lens...there aren't as many tilt shift lenses made today, but they're still around...but with in-camera correction and post processing correction starting to approach these areas more and more, the tilt shift lenses often seem an unnecessary expense.

Perspective correction for scenes like this can also be performed in Photoshop or similar software. A quick example, here's an 18mm uncorrected upward angle shot:

And here's another 18mm upward angle shot, but corrected using PSP8 'perspective correction' tool manually adjusted:
