Re: Canon 500D/550D/600D series RAW file size.
Yeah the resolution on the 1D X surprised me at first but looking at everything its quite a shrewd move, afterall how many photographers actually make big poster sized prints of their images, I suspect only a few. The resolutions we have on cameras today are way more than anyone would have predicted 10 years ago. I remember back then some reviewers saying 4MP was going to be more we would ever need and look at what we have today. The resolutions we have today even on entry level SLR's are fantastic , its just that we have become so used to more and we have failed to realize that we already have more than enough for most purposes. I think we are now at a defining point in this megapixel war,as shown by Canons 18MP on the 1D X, people who are after more pixels will choose the Sony cameras and possibly some Nikon models and those who have had enough of the endless hiking of megapixels will consider sensible solutions on offer, I suspect the image quality of the 1D X once its out will blow people away the "low " 18MP resolution will be forgotten ...............

Huh...very good informative sources. Especially second source was too large..
You know, I would like to go on for EOS T2i/T3i from XS because of improvements, but my concern is this Large megapixels. I don't know why Canon still play the game for "Megapixels" like one the P&S market. Nikon, in this aspect acts wisely ...
Canon acted wisely by having their 1D X at only 18MP. Rumor has it, the next Nikon camera might be 24MP, or 30MP+.
