Or he didn't notice the date. Admit it - the topic is forever relevant...

And since I jumped in, I'll just say this: it doesn't really matter what amateurs charge for photography, for two reasons. One - being amateurs, they will determine their "price" based on unprofessional factors (e.g. I want to get that new nifty lens, which costs $300, so I'll charge $300. A week later, the same "assignment" will be priced differently because... well, why not?); and two - because unless one is competing with amateurs in the same market (which I hope you're not) - that piece of information isn't relevant anyway.
