Re: What are the advantages of a bigger image sensor?

I can't even figure out what size sensor it is--when there are so many different ways to describe it. even though the descriptions are hardly descriptive. What is CMOS? Or what is it compared to 1/1.6" ? APS-C? There shouild be one way to describe a sensor size, and that should be THE SIZE: such as 23mmx15mm. Please let's get sensor sizes standardized!

I know bigger is better. That's all. A full size sensor is 24x36mm. Full 35mm size, get it? Canon, Nikon and a couple of others have them, and they are the flagship cameras of the company. Pricey, too. Those who have larger sensors take sharper pictures.
