Olympus will not abandon regular Four Thirds lenses.

I wouldn't rely on this

Considering the recent revelations of huge, hidden financial losses at Olympus, what he wants and what he will get may be two very different things.

If the demand is too low for 4/3rd products to be profitable (which is probably the situation, given the fierce competition), they will stop making them. It's as simple as that.

Previously, it had been thought that the camera division was losing money, but the medical division was profitable, but now it appears that even that isn't the case, so the existence of the company as a whole is in considerable doubt. The company has very little net equity left. There's no need to look as far back as ancient history (the abandonment of OM) to have serious doubts about the reliability of Olympus.
