Re: Fuji X100 and Leica X1

I might have a closer look at the Nex 7, when there are more decent primes (or a fast zoom from moderate wide to moderate tele) - though I'd say 24 MP is overkill for me.

That "24 Mpix" is only 6 Mpix in the red channel, so it is only marginally higher resolution than a DP1.

That said, it should be as good as a DP1 or 2 if fitted with a top class lens, such as a Leica lens. The great advantage of the NEX series is that they will accept thousands of lenses.

The X100 comes close - but nothing which would tempt me to switch (especially since I'm not interested in high ISOs (high: over 200) - net yet, anyway).

The Leica X1 was perhaps the biggest disappointment - shoddy mechanics like loose dials; I couldn't believe it when I played around with that cam.

Next year could be a game changer, though. New Fuji interchangeable, new Leica offerings (incl mirrorless), Pentax / Ricoh (promising to 'plug the gap'), Sigma etc.

But this has a lot to do with my personal preferences: I quite like the fixed lens of the DP2x, the size, the ergonomics, no bloody (excuse my French) touchscreen etc.

I bought a NEX 5N and find the touch screen very handy for focussing when using a tripod. You just tap where you want to focus and it is enlarged - that is, with a manually focussing lens of course.
