I did this myself. Staring with mid range lenses, selling them and moving to best of class lenses.

Sure, its not hard to sell a lens, but when you pay $600 and sell for $400, or in some cases $1200 and sell for $1000, and do this with several lenses, it adds up.

I suggest starting simple and spend a year or more to decide what focal length and style you really need and then go for the best lens you can afford that meets your needs.

Thanks Ben, am doing exactly that. going to stick with my 18-55. I guess in time i will have a fair idea of what i need.
