does the 580EXII have a simple flash-triggered optical slave cell?

Hi All, non-Canon user here with a Canon-specific query about the 580EXII speedlight.

I need to trigger a bunch of speedlights when I fire a studio light. Most Nikon speedlights have an optical trigger mode, much like studio lights, where they will fire when they see a pulse of light.

Does the 580EXII have the same functionality?

All of the searches I've done show that the unit can be triggered remotely, but my lack of Canon familiarity lets me down, as I haven't been able to figure out if this includes the simple slave function that I am specifically looking for (or if the 580EXII can only be triggered remotely as part of a Canon-specific infrared trigger system).

Many thanks in advance for any insights!

Chas
