Canon should remake the S-80

Having tried several newer travel cameras, I keep returning to my S-80. The new S cameras fit a different niche. They don't have an optical viewfinder, their lens covers are fragile, and their controls are too small. The lens covers on the S-30 through S-80 have a rugged and convenient design that is safe in my coat pocket. The lens shutters on the S-90 through S-100 and G12 are just asking to get stuck or to scratch the lens. (The Panasonic LX-5 and Olympus XZ-1 have fussy lens caps which fall off in your pocket anyway.) The new cameras are so tiny that I have to poke the controls with my fingernail since my medium to large fingers hit two buttons at once.

Upgrades to the lens, sensor, and processor would be welcome. But the general design of the S-80 is still the most satisfactory I have found.
