Just received refurb 1D from Canoga

I couldn't get it to repeat with halogen lights.

It's completely clouded over now. Wind's blowing like crazy. It's actually 70+ here and muggy today.

So far, I don't really know what to make of mine. The shot I did induce it on was a shot I wouldn't normally make. I only dialed in +2 EV because the sun was such a large part of the frame. Judging from the picture, though, I obviously overexposed the trees that were near the sun.
I just aimed and shot.

I didn't try the halogen thing yet..

The thing is that Canon says this is normal. I find it very hard
to believe in that no one or very few can reproduce the problem.

That being said, if I do get stuck with, it'll be hard to convince
Canon to try to fix it.

I had one big (image wise) spec on my sensor. It came off with 2 blows of a brush blower with the brush removed.
Dust is showing even at f/5.6

LOL

Looks like I better start blowing on this thing.

Hey David, just a quick question... What are your techniques for testing for dust and front focusing? I have a D60 that I wouldn't mind testing, as I've noticed plenty of dust on the outside of my camera (due to the cloth of the camera bag) and want to make sure none of it's getting inside.. Also would like to test the focus accuracy. :-)

Thanks in advance!

Well, the counter CAN be reset. Intentionally, or unintentionally. Higher or lower.

So, the numbers don't REALLY mean much.

People have had their cameras jump 5,000 images after sending them to Canon for service. Probably because they used a CF card that somehow reset the camera to a higher number.

worried look

Acts like the battery is dead. I took it out and replaced it and it worked for a couple frames, then went dead again.

Battery charger was blinking, indicating a fully charged battery before I removed it and put it in the camera.... hmmm. Hope it's something I'm doing wrong!

Could be a bad battery. Try it with the A/C adapter.

Also, "refresh" your battery the first few times. This might help.

It seems to be working fine with the AC adapter. Even though the battery showed it was charged, I have my doubts since it was new. I have another battery charging that should be fully charged soon. It's been on the charger for about 2 hours now.

This is quite a camera! I'm impressed! (First one I've ever looked at.)
