Recuva will work just as good as any other recovery package. What all of these do is search for the files content without bothering too much about the name and the file allocation (those are wiped by the quickformat). If you haven't done any other operations on the drive yet, Recuva will probably recover all of your files.
And offcourse write the recovered files to a different drive, so you can have more than one go at this if things go wrong... You don't want any write operations done on your failed HDD.
