i got tired waiting for d700 replacement

Good decision. The 5D2 is a very good camera with lovely colours, especially skintones.
The 5D2 can operate in ISO where my D3X can't (get's noisy above ISO 640)

I don't think the new camera will have 36MP but 18MP.

Yes, that is a good suggestion.

When the 24-140 f4 came out, he stared a half a dozen posts about how the 24-70G was dead and that owners of the 24-70 would be flocking to buy the 24-120.

Only if you don't know what you're doing with RAW conversion. I did a shoot where I used both cameras and the colours are identical.

Having said that, the 5D2 is a great camera yes.

The D700 operates where the 5D can't. which is pretty much anything not involving a stationary target.
 
Depends. I've heard different statements. Canon users say Nikon skintone looks plastic, while Nikon users say Canon look lifeless. I think the "plastic-look" statement was born when the D3 came out. I remember when Nikon users complained here in the forum about the plasitic look, less detail and terrible colours. It was better when we got the D2X modes for the D3. My D3X is much worse. I guess it is the Sony sensor while the D3 has a Nikon sensor which is better. If you care for Canons magenta cast, you'll get out beautiful skintones which rivals Fuji. With a NEF-file you need a bit more work in the post process and the right RAW converter like NX2 or Lightroom. But in the end the user must like it.

Got it, one is lifeless and the other is plasticky, thanks for the info. Black Friday bs, we're still in line half mile long!
 
the canon 5d mark 2 will do a great job

Contrary. Those who sell D700 and lenses to get 5D2 will be buying the whole range of Nikkors again later. This already happened when D3 became available. Good business for Nikon. Poor decision making on the part of switches.

Wanting more Pixel for cropping?

That is a shame, you better spend time in improving your composition skill Rather than buying more mega pixel camera.

i have plenty of skills in the photography fieldson
..that why people to come me paying top dollar
having me make 3,000 to 6,000 a week and more..

i hve no time to chat with none skill photographer like youreslf
 
Hey pal,

Before you start criticising others, why don't you go back to primary school and learn proper English grammar. You are incapable of of constructing the most basic of sentences. Also, while you are at it, why don't you learn how to spell. If you are incapable of doing that, then at least learn to use a spell checker.

Jumping from one system to another is stupidest thing to do.

You know why you needs to crop? You have half ass lens system since you are one legg in Canon and one in Nikon. Pick one and build a lens system that let you cover everything you need. Whatever you do even D1x can handel anything above is just convinance not nessesity.

can be quite complex and nothing to do with the actual camera:

emotion overrides logic many times. here are a few situations I have come across:

I'm bored and want a change and I have to make an excuse to enable/justify that change.

Peer pressure: My friends have new stuff or feel..da de da de da

Also; User genuinely cannot discern differences in images. ( I did a paid second shooter job for a fellow photographer. I balanced and adjusted every image before giving them on DVD to him) every image was altered again, as was his perogative, but all of the clients had now adopted a tan. Discovered he is colour blind !!!! He adjusted to his perception.. obviously

or

just plain lazy... on D7k forum we have newbies with 'this cost me $$$$, why should I have to alter anything, my compact did a better job', attitude. When you suggest thing like changing profiles to your own taste, you get.. well, more atititude.

then... there is just 'opinion'. another can of worms
