Not sure which 50mm you have, but I really like my A50/1.7. In spite of the manual focusing, some of my best shots come from that lens. Here is one which I have posted several times before to illustrate how good the K-x is in low light. Notice that this is ISO 5000.

So there is no way I'd get of that lens.

I am unable to obtain clear pictures with any of the lens.....perhaps operator error and poor eye sight are to blame... Do you have any suggestions how I might correct

One thing you might try with your manual focus lenses is catch-in-focus. Check your user manual and do a search for it here on the forum -- there have been a number of threads discussing this technique.

or should I just sell these and buy a lens made for the Kx. If I buy a lens made for the Kx which would you suggest.

As I already mentioned, I really think the old fast lenses (f/1.7-ish) are perfect for the K-x as the combination of high ISO and wide apertures let you get very useful shots in very low light. But if you want a good autofocus lens, I highly recommend the DA-L 35/2.4. I doubt you'll find more bang for the buck in an AF lens.
