Thanks Michael. She is already doing the pre prep for transferring. Some of the slides had been left open to the elements (dust, condensation, etc) through neglect and old age (Aunty E), but a majority were still sealed in their boxes. It's an interesting project she has set herself on (my daughter that is) and one I am following intensely as I'd love to have a copy in my personal collection.

I digitized my slide collection last year and used a Polaroid filmscanner. It can only do one at a time, but gives very good results.

There's one hint I like to give you:

You could get your daughter a photographic brush, so that she can dust off the slides before digitizing them. Takes only a few seconds, but improves results a lot.
