Just back from Australia. Packed with a 10.5 nikon, a 12-24 tokina and the 18-200 nikon. Shot 98% of my shots with the 18-200. Just prooved more handy. It is a bit softer at the long end, but it doesn't bother me and does not really show up in print. Was also carrying a m43 with fast prime, but that won't help you.

If the 18-200 does not work for you, don't use it, but I find it really usefull on vacations and it allows me to get shots I would not have got when I would have needed to change my lens.
