It sounds like you might miss the reach of a crop if you go to the 5D2, both for macro and wildlife. The 5D2 will give a better image, but not by much.

I prefer landscape and macro. I don't think the 5D will be a lot better on macro, but it should be slightly sharper (though this can be negated if you have to stop down more to get depth of field).

I do think the 5D2 gives a better image on landscape and portrait, though. The noise level is just much lower, which makes portraits pop, and landscapes sharper. Bokeh becomes creamy instead of crunchy.

The only disadvantages I saw with the 5D2 (over 7D) were the fewer focus zones, slower shutter activation (not a big deal for me), and slightly worse menu ergonomics. I liked the feel of 7D in my hand slightly better too.

But, image quality is king, and the 5D2 has it. I am seriously considering switching from my 7D.
