I did considered using the "foot" zoom. Unfortunately, in landscaping, sometimes it just would not be possible to scoot back, ie precipices. The Tokina only attracted me for the f2.8 which would be useful in architecture interior shots.

As more knowledge-able members here as mentioned, I could always slow down and put the camera on tripod.
