My take on the HVLF1000...

I purchased the HVLF1000 a little while ago, before I knew about the Promaster, etc., and have been trying to get a handle on it ever since. I read a few suggestions on using the HVLF1000, and tried several settings/combinations. My hope was to get some satisfying, repeatable results, before Xmas. I know several others are also looking for good results with this flash, so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents...

Here's my setup:

A Stofen diffuser, angled at 45 deg., and a Kaiser bounce flash shoe (allows rotating the flash sideways for protraits, etc.). The bounce flash shoe is also useful when taking macro shots...

And here's a selection of pictures I took last Friday at a friend's dinner party: 's

I used a 1/125th shutter speed and varied the aperture from 2.2 to 3.2, depending on the distance to the subject (larger aperture for farther subjects). The flash was also set to Low.

I think the results are ok, but if you have any suggestions on possible improvements, please let me know.
