How things change - very interesting visit to my local camera store...

Stopped in at my local camera store here in Madison, WI (The Camera Co.). I've dropped in there from time to time over the last few years, mostly to check out their used lenses or look for accessories, as they never carried any Sony DSLR gear. Pretty much just Nikon and Canon.

They've always been friendly, but also a bit condescending or dismissive at times when I mentioned that I shoot Sony.

So as I'm walking around today, I notice that they have a few Sony DSLR's on their shelf, and one of them turns out to be the a65. What a surprise. Played around with it for a bit, and was very impressed with the EVF - much nicer than my a55 (which I've always felt worked pretty well). Tried to do some high speed burst rate with panning, and it seemed to work pretty well - obviously, I'm not tracking any action in the store though, so not really a true test, but still was encouraged by how the EVF behaved.

Anyway, it turns out they're becoming a full fledged Sony dealer now, and they talked pretty highly of what Sony has done. Very big change from the last time I was in there!

He did openly question the decision to go with 24mp, and can't say I disagree with that. His biggest gripe wasn't necessarily noise though - it was the file size, and having to deal with large files for PP and storage. Interesting.

Talked a bit about the floods in Thailand, and he said from what he'd heard from Sony, Nikon and Canon, supplies would be short through the holidays. No word on when they'd be getting the a77 or Nex 7 in, or the EVF's for the NEX.

Anyway, just thought I'd share this - never expected to see this day.
