I went to circus with my son and grabed my E510 without expecting that much. Turned out, to my surprise, I managed to get some decent pictures that I wanted to share with you.

As you can see most of them were shot with ZD 50mm eventhough I started with the 14-54mm/
Few thoughts:
-the auto WB was quite accurate contrary to my initial fears

-the f2 was a real blessing in this low light situation, the extra light was usefull to freeze the action

-I wish I could have used higher ISO than 400 without the dreadfull banding which was quite visible in the darker shots.
-AF did let me down, good point for the old 510.

These are excellent pictures especially from the 510. I had one a few years back and would have struggled to get the quality of pictures you have with my kit lenses (your photos say a lot about your lenses as well)

Very nice,

Iain.

Stunning shots from the E510 - wish I could get that level of quality from mine. The tiger is my favourite with the elephant a close second.

To Yin Yan...

This is ART, man! Thanks for the inspirational post, I have just ordered myself a copy of that glorious Zuiko 50mm f/2!!! Extrêmement belles images de cirque, je vous en félicite.

I like your view of the circus.

Reminds me in a few ways of a series I did a while ago (behind the scenes in colour, performances in B&W, mostly also with F2 lenses and of course no flash).

In Belgium, however, large animals like elephants are not allowed anymore in a circus. So I had no chance on earth to capture a magnificent shot like your first one.

I am truly truly jealous of that one : perfect moment and perfect light.

Wonderful!

I am considering upgrading from my existing e-510 to and e-5; until I see all the worries about the company; then I see this kind of work; and know if I keep working on my skills Olympus gear can do just fine.

The first and third, in particular, are very moody almost cinematic!

but really, it will spoil you. The 14-54mm is no slouch but pictures IQ are a path ahead with the 50mm, sharper, micro-contrast and even the colors seem better with it.

You'll be glad with your new lens. Most of the time mine is on my camera.
By the way, I love your picture avatar. One of the best game of the serie IMO.
