Tokina 11-16mm Any initial issues??

You *would* realize the problems I saw.

It's still worrying that there may be bad batches out there... but to detect the problems I saw all it takes is to take an 11mm f/2.8 image of a flat scene with detail (like a brick wall) and then take another picture with the camera upside down and then compare the two images (after rotation). When one picture has a soft top right corner and the other has a soft bottom left corner for instance you know something is wrong. I did this with 5 copies of the 11-16 and they were all bad. (And I have seen the same in a Tokina 12-24 as well, but then the second copy was excellent.)
