What is the official release date of the S100 in the US?

Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors re the actual release date for this camera. I am currently getting back into photography and think this would be a great camera to start out with..I just really want to start taking pictures.

My local retailer (I've put a down payment on an S100) announced recently that they expect a shipment on October 15.
