Hi Julio

Ultra Zooms are all about reach.

Obviously to you they are, but to most people, there's a lot more to a bridge cam than just reach. Granted, the SX40 looks good so far, but the SX30 had a 35x zoom as well and the CA was horrendous, the handling was mediocre at best, and the body was cheaply constructed. A 100x zoom wouldn't have made the SX30 a good cam.

“All” super-zooms are full of negative compromises. Most everyone already knows this, and it goes without saying.

I would never purchase a super-zoom to do anything else (primarily) then capture extreme far away subjects, because there so “many” alternatives that have “much” better IQ when the long reach isn’t needed. For those “not” interested primarily in extreme far away subjects a super-zoom most likely will be a poor choice for them.
