The real prize is the lens on the X10, though. 2.0-2.8 is just awesome for a compact camera.

The Olympus XZ-1 has a 1.8-2.5 lens. The MTF charts show that the two lenses perform very similarly, the XZ-1 maybe being slightly better. The Olympus XZ-1 is razor sharp though so those bodes will for the X10. They both have the same focal range as well. The larger and newer sensor of the Fuji, I would presume, will mean we get better image quality out of the Fuji.

Other thoughts: the viewfinder is just meh. It is better than the tiny one on the Nikon P7100 or Canon G12, but it is not nearly as nice as the X100 (which was at the table to play with as well). The X10 responded very quickly - nice and snappy and not sluggish at all.

The viewfinder is just meh? Very disappointing to here. Can you elaborate a bit more on this though? Is it too small? Too dark? Too much parallax? How does the X10 OVF compare to the an aps-c pentamirror OVF?

That's refreshing to hear but without comparing it to something else it's hard to get an idea of what to expect. Since the X100 was right next to it, could you compare the autofocus speed and responsiveness of the camera to that?
