.. did it cost you anything to get there?

Yes, one's production costs need to be taken into account, when determining what the minimum amount should be.

Whats your time worth (1/80 sec) @ f-8

+ 'X' number of years learning how to produce such an image in such a short space of time.

Yes it would matter but its not mentioned he a working pro.

But then again, it's not your time or your expenses that you are selling here - it's a licence to use this image, which this person now wants to use.

An image which you have created and therefore own, which is protected under the copyright law.

And just how did he/she create the image.

Are you greedy like some or are you interested in making a few euro's.

It's got little to do with greed - it's about getting paid a fair price for the use of something you have created & own, which they now want to use.

Greed came into play because I've seen where being greedy led to nothing

Then the image wasn't that valuable to the potential buyer or he/she was trying to get a very good photo for a very low price and is cheap trying to push around the average person.

So the fee is based on their use , rather than on what it cost you to produce - as the true value is determined by them, not you.

The shot is worth whatever the potential buyer is willing to pay, who cares less of your experience, gear or the color of your eyes.
