This problem is as old as color photography and is due to the spectral sensitivity of the sensor. If it does not exactly match human visual spectral sensitivity, it will not record all colors correctly, and no amount of white balance fiddling will correct it for all colors. Purple is particularly difficult, but there are other colors as well that are difficult to reproduce. Clearly you can fix one color to your liking, but others will then not be correct. Human visual spectral sensitivity is complex.
