ISO above 1600 - Do we really need it?

Wrong question...

IMHO the question should be: "ISO above 1600 - Do you really need it?"

That's a very personal choice/need, I don't really need it for 90% of my shots, so I can live with some noise above 1600 and pp it out either with the RAW converter or a specific software ( I use Neat Image ). Of course, if I can have clean images out of the camera at ISO3200 or above I may even use it more often, but probable lower DR and degraded colors/sharpness ( which are more prone to happen at high ISOs ) may require more pp.
