you should be able to pick up the 18-135 is for under 300 from someone who has bought the kit and does not want the lens.

Its a nice outdoor walk around lens, set to around f8. I use mine from time to time on the 7D, or at a beach, or a party when I am going to be using flash. the range is convient. If you are not planning to print larger than 11x14, and shoot raw to correct the CA, its a pretty decent lens with good range.
57mm, iso 200, f 5.6, 1/80

62mm, f11, iso 250

As you can see sharpness is acceptable in real life use, if you are not printing extra large (larger than 14x11). it would not be my primary landscape lens, and it would not be my low light indoor lens.
