Well, after seeing one of the original jpg files, you are right that the video can be better. From the adobe website you can download a trail version of Premiere Pro. Don't really know if it is fully functional, but if it is, you could try to make a video with it using your original jpg files.

In Premiere you only have to tell the program witch files to use, how long to display any of them and choose an output mode (avi, mov).
The result should be a lot better.
