s95 - Just keeps producing great images! (PICS!)

I'm only going to post a handful so as not to be a burden on those of you will slower internet connections and to keep within posting guidelines (which are also a little ambiguous) ... but I've had a great opportunity to spend a couple of days with my s95 and it still pulls the sort of shots that even the average DSLRs sometimes struggle to capture. These were literally taken as pont-and-shoot shots with little more than a second to compose and capture the shots I wanted. Very minimal PP : what you're seeing here is pretty much the same as what came out of the camera. I've simply cropped the images and cloned out a single dead pixel. After 355 shots, my battery died. But man, I love this camera. If I lost or broke it, I'd buy another one in an instant. I've migrated from one Canon camera to the next but ONLY bought them when I needed to. Any successor to this camera will need to offer something pretty decent to get me to upgrade.

  • All Handheld

  • All taken in P-Mode

  • All taken in JPEG

  • All taken at ISO 100 to ISO 160

  • All taken with +1 color, contrast & sharpness (via the My Colors setting in the Menu).

Radio Tower shot as I crossed the street. Neo (in the Matrix Movies) was dangling over this tower from a helicopter in the first movie. The wierd highlight above the layer of bricks is a painted upper deck, not the results of USM etc.

Dandilion on the ground where I parked my car. Great macros every time. Can't get much closer than this though.

Crypt Angel from a cemetary - shot with zoom from about 25 feet away. It's clear and undistorted.

Boat moored at the Harbor. Do you know how hard it is to photograph whites and highlights without blowing them out? Another reason I love this camera.

Seagull with the zoom from about 10 feet away. This image has been cropped slightly. Here's the uncropped original: http://www.pbase.com/image/136917006/original

Bronze Statue in front of a store. This was not a crop, but you can see the full statue here in Portrait format : http://www.pbase.com/image/137133236/original - the statue was about 16 inches tall

Opal pendant in a shop window behind glass. Not composed well because I was in a hurry at the time. But still, we got creat color and clarity.

Steamboat at sunset shot whilst walking. I was running, actually. And this was shot over my shoulder.

Building behind the Town Hall in Sydney It just looked interesting and a little dynamic to me at this angle.

Solid Silver Ingot in the hand at the Bullion Company I was able to photograph this metal ingot much closer too... See link: http://www.pbase.com/image/136936103/original

My wife, Rena, using her new Camera and 50mm f1.2 L lens.

Another gull - this time on the wharf Taken with the zoom... here's what he looked like with his pal with a wider view: http://www.pbase.com/image/136917010/original - the water was silky smooth and was reflecting grey storm clouds at the time.
