Sigma 12-24 II - Slightly more real world-ish tests

Starting at

are four shots with the Sigma 12-24 II (13 and 17mm) and three with the Canon 17-40 at 17mm.

All are at f/16 on a tripod. The 17-40 shots were taken after a cloud covered the sun. Converted in LR3.2, sharpening = 40, contrast and vibrance cranked something fierce.

The camera is 48 inches off the ground, the bushes to the left and right about 42 inches from the center of the lens. Focus distance set manually according to the lens markings as indicated in the titles.

Oh, yes. I apparently didn't twist the lens as hard as I needed to, so it's at 13mm, not 12mm. Sigh.

It looks as though the Sigma is doing somewhat better than the Canon at 17mm. With the clouds over the sun, CA shouldn't be quite as noticeable, but the upper right still seems worse (comparing the two 17mm 2m shots) in the Canon, and the Sigma seems to be holding detail further into the corners.
