Polarizer - without vs. with

Like most of us I have a bunch of filters not in use anymore because of digital PP .
But the king of filters - the polarizer - is still a shiny one.

In a lot of threads I saw people talking about using the polarizer filters for making the sky bluer.
I guess that is easy to achieve with some PP.
The real value for me is cutting the reflections much as possible.

Without trying to present the "Photo of the Year" I'm trying to show what is pretty obvious from the next images.

The photos where taken handheld in less than a minute difference with no changes in lighting, laying on my belly in the forest with D700 with a Zeiss 35/2 lens @f4 and ISO 200. B-W Circular polarizer.
The post processing was absolutely identical for the two images (Sync in LR3)

So here is the one without filter:

And here is with polarizer filter

I guess the deep and clean colors are making a statement...
