K-5 weathersealing/weatherproofing

I used my K-5 on the beach today. Maybe it might have gotten a bit of splashed with sea water and maybe some sand on the exterior.

So to clean it when I got home I put it under shower (not running full blast) for a few seconds to get the whole body and lens (DA* 50-135mm) wet. After that I dried off the exterior.
Good or bad?

I have a friend who is a Canon fanboy and owns a 7D, he said "know that doesn't mean you can dunk it in water right - it means that it can get an occasional light splash, maybe from sea spray from a boat or a light drizzle."

I told him "maybe that's what "weather" proof means when you're talking about a 7D."

Your thoughts?

I have seen shots of people talking photos of waves with Pentax cameras with the cameras getting soaked on this forum in the past.
