But only one failure at a time. If the second failure occurs before the array has rebuilt itself onto the spare, you're toast. And the larger the RAID-5 volume, the longer the recovery time and the greater change you have of a single-bit error foiling the recovery.

And of course RAID-5 is not suitable for creating copies stored in multiple locations (unless you're willing to lug an entire NAS unit to another location). That makes it vulnerable to risks like theft, as well as the standard risks such as accidental deletion, corruption, etc.
