The 'clicks' are not the camera firing multiple times.

I've always utilized the separate advanced "mirror-up" setting on longer exposures (you can select from 0.5 to 2 seconds advance setting on menu #4 - or is it #5 ? )

IIRC, there is no need to bother doing this.
