...and I'd add to this: periodically check the integrity of all your copies. If one copy dies on you, you want to find out about it so that you can use the redundant copy to make another clone before it dies too.

This is the huge advantage of digital archives on hard drives - the fact that verification and copying can be done with almost no manual effort. Try doing that with negatives!
