your dream camera is already a prototype
Without getting into specifics,
was told by engineer at "X"
that prototypes are made all
the time with features well in
advance of what is available on
the market, e.g., sensors. The
bigger problem is being unable
to bring price down to levels
that consumers/pros are willing
to pay for those advances. For
each new model introduced to
market, there may be 2 or 3
better versions that aren't.
2 other (obvious?) points:
a. cameras are now always built
around sensors, not other functions
b. video functions are now driving
force behind most advances,
not "still" functions...
