Happy now? Yeah, pointless question.

I'm sorry Steve, but I'm confused about why this would present an especially difficult engineering hurdle. The task is well defined, the available materials known and plentiful, and it's basically a size/force scale-up from an existing design. What's more, it's already been done both by other DSLR manufacturers and (in part) by Pentax itself with it's film cameras. (In fact it reminds me of a problem on my Deformable Body Mechanics 3031 final junior year )

I could be wrong, I'm no camera designer, but it seems to me there are a few very difficult things to get past in the FF body design from Pentax's perspective (like small-enough-SR,) but the mirror box probably isn't one of them.

In all likely hood Pentax would source the box from a third party providing there's space for an SR mechanism.

I hear Sony have a very clever mirror box using a folding mechanism for the mirror to get round the problems the industry thought impossible (SR in FF) .

If only Steve could have told them how trivial it really was

What is the problem with putting SR on FF? pentax can even put sr into 645 but they are too lazy or stingy to do it. Maybe they can develop better sr system with a floating sensor mechanism using really powerful magnet or gas suspension system like on car or even anti gravity mechanism if such technology exist and make it so good even people with parkinson can use the camera without any problem
