Re: Ups and Downs

Thanks, and don't worry, I don't take it personally. FI, I currently own a D300 and have owned an Oly410 and I have seen the good, bad and ugly from each. So I have some experience with other cameras.

First, let me address NIK filters. I used them because I felt many of the images looked flat due to the light conditions. Perhaps I just traded "A for B".

I think some of the images look great and the camera has a lot of potential.

The camera does better in good light. Some of these conditions were very demanding to say the least. There are definitely issues with greens and highlights under certain conditions. I don't think the camera is reaching its potential at this point which is to be expected with a new camera. Look at the Fuji X100.

To me the proof is in the print. There is a tremendous amount of detail being pulled out of this camera. I have done 40x60 prints (cropped sections) and they look very impressive.

If you really want to compare this camera to previous versions you need to do more side-by-side work. So I think that patience is needed at this point. If you want to be on the leading edge, as some do, you pay the price. Something is worth what someone will pay for it.
