Is 60 year old technology really the way of the future?

Alll this fuss about what Ricoh may do with Pentax. The mirrorless camera with EVF is the way of the future, I say. We are at the same position that long playing records faced when CDs first appeared. There are still enthusiast record players floating around and still specialist companies turning out vinyl discs but a niche market is a niche market.

DSLRS are heading for a niche market future as well, may not be obvious but look at the big picture and the historical trend lines for new technology adoption in the face of a mature technology and a well penetrated market. Growth will come from new i.e young and hip consumers, not the traditional users who have emotional investment in their choice of equipment.
