I've built a smaller panorama head and took some panos with a Sigma DP2s.
I like the way the camera beeps while on 2-second shutter mode. It puts me in a rythm so I can take all 51 shots (17 images by 3 rows) in a few minutes.
I've also come up with an acronym to help me shoot panos: WIFEL
Make all MANUAL
Here my blog post
What I'm really after is multi-image stitching with my SD14 using this smaller/lighter pano head. With $50 worth of hardware you can make a non-nodal point head that will allow you to create images way past what the SD1 can do.
