The photo was taken at night and the subject was not illuminated by any street lamp, I could barely see her through my viewfinder (I purposely positioned my subject in the dark to avoid any light to contamine my scene. You're shooting light objects with clearly defined edges. A dark skinned person in the dark is more demanding on the AF system.
