Can anything be done to enhance this?

This looks like a planned shoot. Surely you shot more than one pic of this scene. Do you have any other shots? You could clone her face in and clone away the red streak across his head. gc

I'd like to remove some of the sunlight from the face and enhance it a bit. Is this possible?

There's rarely any information on how she looks like. So you could make another face on the photo.

Then again: the photo as such is quite alright, the retouch is only wanted if you want to recognise her.

All in my humble opionion of course!

If I seem to talk nonsense or you can't understand me, it's probably my English :)

Thanks guys for the response. My wife and I took these pictures ourselves with a remote. I'll look to see what else I have. I dont recall any from the side pose but i'll check.

RMW487.

very difficult...
so for next time, pop some flash.
be more careful of your viewing angle
and maybe use a bit of telephoto rather then wide angle.

if I mock you, it may be well deserved.

Thanks DRH for the tips. We took these ourselves with a remote and not til later realized the exposure. Will def keep it in mind for next time.

asoftwind and mikes thank you so much for the play.

Mikes - the edit looks amazing. The outline looks very much like of the wifey. Can you share how you toned down the sunlight?

I just hit the auto adjust button in Corel Photopaint

Only when you can criticize yourself, should you criticize others. Mikes.

Do you have the raw file, or did you shoot JPG? More could be done with the raw file. Is this too over the top?

@bearmann - I do have the Raw file. I dont think changing the exposure is going to do much. Is there anything else i can try? Meanwhile, i will try to play around with the raw as well.

I think the best you can do is shoot a new siluette of her face and copy that into this photo.

Well, I don't know if you like my enhancement above, or whether it is too extreme.

On the raw file I would try using the recovery slider in ACR, add some fill light, try adjusting the contrast, play with the tone curves. If you provide access to the raw file here, we can all give it a try.
