Making a m4/3 system needs a whole new range of lenses because of the crop factor. I don't believe they have the resources to do this. Look how slowly the K mount AS-C lens line grew.

From a marketing view they would be just another supplier of m4/3, a me-too system. Why bother?

Many have commented on the size issue in using the K mount. Think beyond the current form factor - does it have to look like current still cameras? What about a design like video cameras? Use a swivel EVF, place it along the side and you minimise front to back depth. Given that video is an increasing factor for these cameras it makes sense to adopt a video form factor.
