Does anyone know if it is possible to have the lens extension/retraction function on the 602 disabled (kept in the extended position) once a lens tube is fitted?

You are, but I still think it would be a great idea (for my 6900 too).I suggested Fuji might be persuaded to put this as a switched
option in a firmware revision but everybody thought I was.....
ga-ga!..

Only if you feel up to doing surgery on your camera.........Does anyone know if it is possible to have the lens

Disabling the lens extension is a wonderful idea, because this
minimizes the chance that dusted air goes into your camera (and ccd
sensor) etc.
