ND filter stops

I'm going to need a few ND filters when shooting video with my 5D II outside in bright conditions and with large apertures, probably mostly F2.8, sometimes maybe larger. Could someone help me choose between ND filters, or actually what kinds would be smart to choose. For instance, do I go for three ND4:s, one ND8 and a ND4/ND2, etc?

I know that the ND8 lets in 12,5% of the light, ND4 25% and ND2 50%, respectively 3, 2, and 1 stops. I don't have a lot of experience with ND:s in the field, however, especially when filming video. I've used one ND filter a couple of times when shooting flowing water, but that's about it.

If anyone could give me some advice on a couple of ND-combinations I'd be grateful. Thanks!
