a few examples

I have both, and I can see a big difference in IQ. Plus, as others have mentioned, you get the benefits of the wider aperture. Since I don't have a wide prime, I still use the kit lens for landscapes, and I'm happy with the results around the f/8 - f/11 range. But the 35/2.4 is definitely better for people and abstract shots where shallower depth of field matters.

Here are a few examples of what I've been able to do with the 35/2.4 that couldn't do with the kit lens.
