Basketball to the bitter end
A short flashback from Iceland -09, where we stumbled upon this basketball playground.
Or rather what once was, I suppose...
What a contrast to the NBL glamour!
Desolate, abandoned and far from everything, we found this surreal basketball playground, covered in wet long grass, gently swaying in the wind. Kind of a gloomy scene, a depressing testimony of broken illusions, depopulation, and the Icelandic economical crisis, boosted by an overall global recession...

A barbed wire, carelessly wrapped around a skew rotten pole, opens up a hole in the fence, making out for the main entrance to the field. Paradoxically, a couple of good things can be said though; security is relaxed, and the tickets come very cheap!
